A new talk will explore the histories of these two iconic maisons, offering untold stories and a fresh perspective

They are household names – but how much do you really know about the stories behind world-famous jewellery brands Cartier and Tiffany & Co?
Author Rachael Taylor has written in depth about both maisons in her The Story Behind the Style series of books. In a live online talk on Thursday, 25th June, 2026 she will trace their paths from family businesses to global cultural icons, and explore how they have shaped and changed how we wear jewellery.
The talk, Rediscovering Cartier and Tiffany & Co, will focus on the often overlooked details, pivotal moments and people behind the scenes.

"As a long-time jewellery journalist, I thought I knew everything there was to know about Cartier and Tiffany & Co,” says Taylor. “Yet in the process of writing my books, I found myself reassessing my view of these famous brands. By looking again at the iconic moments, people and designs we all think we know, I discovered a deeper narrative that led to a fresh appreciation of these houses - and a surprising synergy between the two maisons.
"Although the two jewellers started out on opposite sides of the globe and operate with very different strategies, their founding stories and ascents share many intriguing touch points throughout history. In this talk, I look forward to sharing some of the most intriguing stories I discovered while writing my books, and take you on a journey through time that charts the rise and rise of Cartier and Tiffany & Co."
